Concept ideation
Help with putting together a concept for a product or product range that fits with the brand.
Raw material research
Researching and sourcing of ingredients fitting to the product concept including suggestions of key ingredients that can be consistent throughout the range.
Formulation work
Writing formulas and making product samples according to client needs. All samples are made in the in-house laboratory.
Stability testing
The stability of a product should always be assessed before being placed on the market. This can look different depending on product type but generally takes 3 months and involves placing the product in a 40 degree oven.
Facilitating necessary testing and reports (challenge testing, CPSR, SPF)
Has mandatory tests such as challenge testing and SPF testing been done in time before launch? Has the product been through a safety assessment and received a Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR)?
CPNP registration
All products sold in the EU have to be registered in the Cosmetic Product Notification Portal. The portal itself is free of charge, but there may be fees depending on the market (country) where the product is registered. In Sweden, Läkemedelsverket charges a yearly fee for each product registered.
Claim substantiation
Review of product claims and Documentation gathering for substantiation. What are the products claims based on? Raw material data or product tests? Regardless, the claims have to be backed up.
Regulatory check for labelling & claims
Is the product labelled correctly with all the necessary information? And are the product claims within the scope of the regulation?
Organising Product Information File (PIF)
Each product placed on the market need to have a PIF, which consists of product documentation including (but not limited to) stability, safety, claim substantiation and any allergic reactions or adverse effects reported from consumers. The PIF needs to be made available to the governing agency responsible for auditing the cosmetic market within 48 hours after a request. In Sweden, Läkemedelsverket is the responsible agency.
Easy to understand check lists
For example labelling requirements for the EU or documentation to have in place before launch.
